Our spine specialist on this episode of the Back Doctors Podcast is Dr. Joseph D’Angiolillo. Today he shares a story of a woman who had sudden upper back pain for no apparent reason.

Dr. D'Angiolillo practices in Somerset, NJ and he has been in practice since 1985.

Dr. Bartley shares two stories with us today.  The first story is of a patient who has scoliosis and a bad disc resulting in severe back pain.   The second story is a 28 yr. old construction worker with drop foot.

Dr. Bartley graduated from Indiana University with an Athletic Training and Sports Medicine degree and after interning with the New England Patriots entered Logan University. He has been practicing in Jasper, IN since 1990 and is certified in Cox Technic of the Cervical and Lumbar spines.  He is an avid triathlete and has completed the Boston Marathon.

Dr. Shay Corbin runs the Spine and Sports Rehab Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  Dr. Corbin was the PGA Tour Chiropractor, from 2004 to 2007 traveling to tour events around the nation working with the world’s best golfers treating for all injury types, assisting with their rehab and prevention of injuries as well as preparing them for daily tournament play. Dr. Corbin is contracted for LSU athletics to travel and treat athletes on and off-season for injuries and to help get ready for competition.

Osteoarthritis of the knee is commonly treated with drugs.  Long-term therapy with medicines may cause other problems: NSAIDs can cause stomach ulcers, cardiovascular problems, and kidney and liver damage. Taking larger doses of acetaminophen (such as Tylenol) may cause liver damage.

On this episode Dr. Marc Baker from Nova Scotia Canada, shares how he successfully treated a woman in her third trimester of pregnancy with lower back pain.  Dr. Marc Baker worked in a multidisciplinary private practice while also being a staff doctor at the Canadian Forces Base hospital in Halifax.  After his tenure with the Canadian Forces, he opened the first Disc Clinic in Musquodoboit Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada. Dr. Jim Brandt began practice in October 1969 with two other doctors.  He began his private practice in 1970.  He obtained his Diplomate in Chiropractic Orthopedics in 1980.  He has served on the Chiropractic Orthopedic Examination Board from 1987 to present.  Currently, he is the President of the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists. He received his Masters degree in Biomechanical Trauma from Lynn University in 1994.  His son Ryan joined the practice 2000.  Dr. Brandt has lectured locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.  He was presented with the Examiner Emeritus award that has been given to only three other chiropractic orthopedists since the Boards inception in the 1960's.  He has studied with Dr. Jim Cox since the 1970’s and he and Dr. Ryan Brandt are certified, flexion-distraction practitioners.  Dr. Brandt has been married since 1968 and has two grown children and five grandchildren.
